March 2010: Guelph, Canada – SpectraDigital Corporation (SDC) is a
technology company that specializes in the development of simple, easy-to-use,
medical diagnostic tests for use in low-resource settings. SDC’s light
scattering-based technology platform can be adapted for use in a variety of
applications.
HIV SpectraPoint, is SDC's first application that assesses the
efficacy of AIDS anti-virals using a simple blood test; assessing the efficacy
of the anti-virals This method can provide information similar to the
genotype/phenotype test at a much lower cost.
Mediavention Inc. is pleased to be a
technology partner with SDC since the beginning of its operation providing
software development resources.
In prior projects Mediavention
developed two applications; the first is a data capture system that provides an
easy to use interface for users. The system used encryption and gzip compression
for secure data transmission, the data collection interface uses DirectX and USB
cameras. The second application was created to de-encrypt/de-compress the files.
At the time of writing these applications have be used to provide over 10,000
sample analysis results.
Mediavention extended these
applications with an analysis package that would determine if the treatment
triggered changes in the samples. This is used to provide instant results to
users of the system. The users also have the option of sending the results to
SDC for detailed analysis.
The second extension to SDC
technology is a new server application where previously run samples can be
de-encrypted so the users can perform their own analysis of the results. The
decryption must occur on the SDC server for billing requirements.
Both applications improve SDC
customer experience with the technology and at the same time reduce effort
required by SDC staff.
