GUELPH, ON – Seneca College,
located in Toronto, Ontario, joins the group of colleges
using MotionCoach to teach and coach sports. Coaches at
Seneca will be using advanced visual analysis technology
in the training of
several
varsity sports.
MotionCoach is a
visualization tool used by coaches and instructors to
capture video of training students/athletes. Coaches can
quickly overlay the video recordings with graphics to
help the student understand their movement. The students
acquire the technical skills more quickly, by relating
the feeling of the motion to accurate visual feedback.
Lawson Hamer Assistant Head
Coach of the Sport Seneca’s Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
Program says: “We have a strong gymnastics program
at Sport Seneca; selecting MotionCoach puts us on an
even better technology footing and assists us in our
program mandate which is to continually produce athletes
for the Canadian National Team and to compete with the
best in the world. We like it for its strong feature
list and easy operation that will save the staff hours
of work.”
Sport Seneca purchased
complete MotionCoach MX computer/camera/software
solutions, including the tablet solution, which combines
a powerful computer with mounted camera in a small
package no bigger than, a standard clipboard. The
computer is light enough to be carried all day, and also
has wireless internet connectivity so the coach can
capture/analyze and e-mail a video clip to a coaching
student or varsity athlete in under 2 minutes while
standing in the gym.
The unique FleX education
pricing structure makes MotionCoach the affordable
solution to equip each student on a term-by-term basis.
FleX allows the school to affordably place advanced
visualization technology in students’ hands at a very
early stage of their careers.
Instructors can issue a video
as homework, students can perform a visual analysis, and
return the work demonstrating if they understood the
class lecture material. Because students and instructors
use the same software, with the same powerful level of
functionality, exchanging ideas and information becomes
easy.
MotionCoach’s advanced
Internet integration supports and enables this
connectivity via standard Internet protocols with no
additional cost or service fees. MotionCoach
additionally includes support for popular Micro USB
drives, CDs and LAN networks.
James Alexander, MotionCoach
Customer Communication Director, is pleased to start
involvement at Seneca College. “We have been
involved with gymnastics and dance in the UK for some
time. This has given our technology people time to
refine the software for the special activities required
by these sports.
