With the latest release of MotionCoach 1.4.0 Mediavention Inc. (Guelph, On) has added a breakthrough in portability and price of a powerful golf instruction technology previously only available in very expensive fixed indoor installations.

This powerful method called “Live Blending” is the process where live real-time feed from a camera is mixed with a moving swing model. Basically the golfer steps inside a model swing and now can see and feel a perfect swing.

Live video blendingThe blended video is normally played on a pair of Virtual Reality(VR) glasses, so the golfer does not need to look at a computer screen to get the visual feedback. This also allows both instructor and student to see the same screen and the same time. Many instructors using MotionCoach are not using the glasses and still getting great results.

The power of MotionCoach is that this is just the latest of instruction technology and can be combined with other computer video analysis techniques like Side by Side, Static Overlaid lines and analysis of previously captured video.

Because of its “JustDraw” interface the golf instructor has total flexibility of which tools to bring onto the screen. The Instructor can make split second decisions and change the screen dynamically to communicate better to the golfer.

With instant feedback from the computer the instructor is free to work with other students. The instructor can work with multiple students, but deliver personal instruction to all.

How many times has an instructor worked out a drill for a golfer, only to come back 5 minutes later to find them reverted back to old movements. Instant feedback provides a guideline to the student, so they have a solid framework to practice in.

Instant feedback lets people feel the new movement while doing it, resulting in better and faster learning, more strongly engrained into the golfer’s memory.
