Extractor Help
This is a help screen for background extraction.

What does Extractor do?

The Extraction component is used to create the blue-screened videos, or also known as background extraction. The Extractor engine searches for the background and removes it isolating the athlete’s motion.

What videos are required for an Extractor?

Like the Freezer engine, two videos are required: a background and subject video. See the page on removing backgrounds for details on configurations.

Where is the Extractor stored and how do you start it?

In version 1.0 to 1.2 the Extracter engine is stored in the "Engines" area of the Control Panel.  In Version 1.2.5 and above, the exrtactor engine is located in the "Tools" area.

To start this component click on the (version 1.0/1.2) "Xtraction", (1.2.5) "Motion Extractor" ICON.

How does the Extractor user interface work?

1. Use the gallery component to find the background video (video without subject). When located, drag and drop this video on to the window panel called "BACKGROUND"
2. Again, use the gallery to find the video with the subject. When located, drag and drop this video on the window panel called "GOLFER"
3. The button on this component will become active when both videos are loaded. Click on this button, and the component will create a new video in the current gallery position and begin processing the videos. A progress bar will indicate the progress of the operation.

After complete, the Extractor can be reused to process the same two videos or two different video clips.

Can you choose start a stop point?

Yes. Like the play component the green and red dots on the timeline can be moved to choose the start and stop points.  As in the example picture, above you will see, the green and red dots are only on a piece of the video.

It is suggested you minimize the model videos to smallest possible because these videos are large. This extra size is caused by no compression of the video frames.

Note the position selector of the subject video can be used to browse through the video looking for the best start/stop positions.

Can your choose what frame to use as the background?

Yes. The little position selection arrow above the background can be moved to find the best frame for the background. See in the example above the background position pointer is moved one quarter of the distance from the beginning.

How are the result videos named?

Resulting videos from the extraction are given the same name as the subject video, but prefixed with the word "Extract_". The directory where these videos will be stored depends on the gallery configuration for new files. See gallery help .
