MotionCAD Templates Help

This page provides help on MotionCAD Template Technology. Below is the template manager dialog box, with this window the templates installed on your MotionCoach are managed.

What is Template Technology?

Templates are nothing more than pre-created MotionCAD analysis files. Although a simple idea, templates drastically reduce the amount time required to do lessons.

When teaching someone with any motion analysis system, a great deal of time is spent setting up the analysis. With Templates Technology this is reduced to one button click.

 How to use?

It very simple to select a template, click here to open the template selection help page.

The templates are configured with information about where and how big to place the video in the template. This way you only need to worry about the lesson.

How do I open the template manager?

To open the template manager, click on the menu option Config/Templates. This will open the template manager window. After you have made any changes to the Templates simply click on the OK button. To exit but not save any of the changes, click on the Close button in the top left of the dialog box.

Changes to the Template configurations?

In the window above you have a list of templates along the right side. When you click on these these the configuration information of the template is displayed in the data fields. All the data fields can be changed except for the video files list.

This data field list of videos is the list of video files that that is deleted when the template is deleted. This field only contains data when the template has been imported.

What is the Up/Down buttons for ?

The up and down buttons move the selected template up or down in the list. The order of the list here is the same order in which the videos appear in the Quick Selection drop down in the Gallery Window. This is how you manage which templates will be available in the Quick Selection when you have more than ten templates.

The picture above, you see the word "MAX" written below a gray line. This is sized to match with ten templates. If the template is above the MAX word your template should appear in the quick selection list.

What is the Import button for ?

The Import button is for importing new templates that have been distributed by other pros. The extension for template import files is "TPI". The TPI file only contains information on the template and the files that make it up. So when you receive a new set of templates is should be a group of files.

After the templates have been imported you can delete the TPI and related files, MotionCoach makes copies of all the MotionCAD files and videos.

What is the Delete button for?

The delete button deletes the selected template. It will also delete any related video files that are listed in the videos data field.

What is the Open button for?

The open button will open the selected template in MotionCAD. Use this to change the template for future usage. You would do this in the case that you want to add something or change the line positions.

What is the New button for?

The New button is used to create a new MotionCAD template. When you click on this button a MotionCAD file is not created, only an entry for a new template. You must configure all the data fields before the template can be used.

The "Template File" field is a little tricky because the path placed in there is a relative path from the location of MotionCoach. The Template file should be in the "Videos" sub-directory of where MotionCoach is installed of directly in the MotionCoach directory.
