 Why golf works

In particular individuals in the upper corporate level have a combination competitive drive and higher tendency to play recreation golf than the average demographic. These two traits can be utilized by offering golf instruction in an event or function environment. The opportunity to improve quickly provides an irresistible draw to this target individual.

Given individual treatment with a subject mater that interests the person, much of the resistive tendencies that guard people can be broken down, opening them to learning new things. This occurs because they feel they are learning something which will give them an advantage in their pleasure activities.

How to get your message through

With a predisposition to learn something important, a secondary message can be easily added to the experience. The secondary message will be associated in the person mind to the enjoyable experience and therefore retained better and the person will be open to accept secondary exposure to subject matter associated with the message. This acceptance can be enhanced if a unique and spectacular experience can be included. This will give a memory cornerstone for the individual to retrieve the experience and secondary message from memory.

The message can be delivered though multiple outlets: · Print outs, (color inkjet printers, can produce photo quality results, with message and logos) · CDs, the video of the persons swing, the lesson, and instructors suggestions can be placed on a CD with interactive application) · On screens, the swing analysis screens can be customized to display company logos, on TV monitors displaying the analysis around the net, also be displayed in the head mounted display. · On the net, on the instructor, with regular printed materials.

These outlets are all amplified through several means.

First during the event, typically waiting line form. This provides opportunity to deliver messages through printed materials and TV monitors, to a group of idle people.

Secondly all materials produced by the system or of value to the individual, as this represents a means to improve themselves in a enjoyable activity. Printed material and specially CDs are viewed again and again to remind the individual of the instruction given by the pro and the system. This review also provides the vehicle to repeat the message to the person. This provides lasting effects and enforces the message content.

Placed in a trade show environment any company using this technology will be at a distinct advantage because the system is loud, and produces golf sounds both of which attract people. The booth can be enhanced with music and audio queues give to the golfer by the computer to control their swings. Typical volume of the system is 1 person very 10 minutes. This rate can be doubled with the addition of another computer. People in lines waiting to use the system will be targets for the message from the rest of the booth.

 A special environment

Technology development by Mediavention Inc. creates a computer and video technologies environment to enhance the golf learning experience. The computers replace ball flight mounting as a measure of success. Data collected from sensors mounted close to the ball give detailed information of how the club hit the ball. Video cameras tied to the computer, store then entire movement of the individual.

A Professional golf instructor can then easily and quickly focus on a few areas of the person moment, which can be improved.

The person views themselves on the video screen compared to ideal movement models.

To quickly give feedback to the individual on success of the practice or to practice the new movement head-mounted display devices can be used to give the individual a live video view of their practiced motion.

Lines and other objects can be superimposed to give a template of motion. This combined with live feedback from an impact analysis gives the person a complete picture of their movement. Improvement can be learned very quickly within this environment.

To enhance the experience the person can be allowed to hit a real golf ball which will hit a vinyl barrier which makes a load noise when the ball hits it.

 Floor space requirements

The space required for the system is relatively small 7’ by 12’ which fits easily into a typical 10x20’ trade show booth. Applications of this technology are not limited to golf, other sports such as tennis, hockey, baseball, throwing, and kicking can be analyzed.
